[#SoSS] Spiders, Spooks & a Big Fuck You!

The last two or three weeks have seen being far less productive than I’d usually like to be, I still have a cough left over from what has to be the most evil cold I have had in a long time, I’ve been looking for a new day job, as a matter of urgency as I am currently unemployed which is not a happy place for me and the last week has been half term, which always disturbs my writing routine and rightly so because my small human is only 6 and is still at the stage of enjoying Mummy’s company, so I am aware that I should make the most of that before he’s older and too cool to hang out with me.

That doesn’t mean I haven’t been perusing blogs though and there have definitely been a lot of posts that I have really enjoyed. I’ve especially been enjoying the Halloween inspired posts throughout October and was inspired to explore some spooky writing myself which has been a lot of fun. Enough about me though, here are my top picks from the last couple of weeks.

I’m not scared of spiders but if you are you might not love ‘An Arachnophobia Nightmare’ by Aurora Glory as much I did. When I say I loved it I mean it made my skin crawl and my body stop breathing, but if that isn’t love I don’t know what is.

Many bloggers had me trying to decide which of their recent tales I like best, but I’m going to urge you to read them all because they are too good to miss. Both Molly Moore and Ella Scandal added to the spider related posts. Molly with ‘A Fine White Thread’ and Ella with ‘Black Widow’. They both also wrote awesome posts for this week’s Masturbation Monday too. ‘Broken Idol’ by Ella and ‘His Perfect Doll’ by Molly were incredibly creepy but in very different ways.

If spiders aren’t your things but ghosts are then Posy Churchgate has the very thing for you. ‘Raising Edward Thackeray’ is incredibly believable for a ghost story, to the point where I’m wondering if Posy has connections to the other side she isn’t telling us about. There is also a part 2 and a part 3 to this tale, so lots there to enjoy.

Poignant, sexy and supernatural I think submissy delighted us when she carried on with her tale that accompanied her Sinful Sunday image in ‘Protect Me and Set Me Free’, inspired by mythology the tale she is weaving is wonderful and I can’t wait to read the next instalment. She also wrote ‘Desire of the Dark:  Cross the Boundary’ which I thought was incredibly well written and had me wondering whether it was going to turn into a spooky tale or not. When I got to the end I realised it really was open to interpretation and I don’t think it’s an easy thing to leave the reader to choose the path they’d like to go down most.

If the current flood of Halloween themed posts aren’t for you I do have a non-spooky offering from Kisungura. ‘Cracked’ is a really wonderful post that explores a feeling I suspect many of us can relate to. I know for certain that as I read it many past moments were flashing through my mind and I was reminded of one of the wonderful sides to my kinky life

Marie Rebel is another blogger that left me with no choice but to include two of her posts. ‘My Eyes Adored You’ and ‘Unearthly Sounds’ are both very different but equally enthralling.

The Light Fantastic’ from Cousin Pons was another great and ghostly read, but if vampires are more your thing then ‘The Cold Breath of Night’ from Tabitha Rayne might be right up your street.

For many of us sex bloggers, our blogs are intensely personal and we share all kinds of information about our sex and kink lives that many people could not imagine sharing online. Sometimes though the stories we have to share are personal in another way and that isn’t always something people are able or willing to put into words, which is why I think Julie is amazing for sharing her recent experiences with us. Cancer is a fucking arsehole and I can name far too many people who have faced it, but every time I see someone facing it head on and with as much positivity as they can muster I feel like it is big fuck you to cancer and that is something I am keen to support.

  2. Floss! Oh my, thank you so much for including my post in this round up. I’ve been struggling so much with the loss of my gran that posting anything is an effort so you really have boosted me more than I can say.
You’ve put together quite a list and I look forward to chilling and reading them later.
I’m sorry you’re between jobs but I’m sure you’ll remember the time spent with your wee one a lot longer than the worry for now. Time goes so quickly! 💕💕💕 lots of love x x x

  3. Thank you for the mention, I am hoping to have the creativity to post about sex and kink again soon, but am glad that my current cancer journey is getting the reception it is. I wasn’t sure how people would react, and am blown away by the love. Hopefully some of your other mentions will give me some much needed inspiration. xx
